Engagement News, Singular and Plural and An Ornament Tree

Hello everyone! It is 6 am on a Saturday and I am up working instead,  of in bed! It is one of those nights where the sleep wasn't great and finally just got up! Bleh!

Oh well . . .

Before I get to my post I wanted to tell you that we had very exciting news this week! Our son and his  girlfriend got engaged! They are a delightful couple and we are thrilled for them!

After that, the rest of the week was pretty much a blur!

We did continue to have school however, I know, shocking in light of this monumental event . . .
One of the things we have been learning about lately is Singular and Plural. We worked on it over the course of a couple of days with the first day being an introduction to the concept by teaching the vocabulary followed by demonstration of singular and plural using examples in the classroom.
The second day we practiced identifying words and pictures as Singular or Plural and gluing them on the appropriate charts. Here is a picture of the charts. They did quite well at deciding which chart was the right one.

I am sharing my pictures and word lists. The box formatting isn't perfect on the word lists because I was making them for myself and knew I would be cutting them out.

I also wanted to mention that  I am currently in love with PicMonkey!
I took pictures of my class for Halloween and did some super cute special effects with PicMonkey and then put them on my classroom blog for parents.

Have a great Saturday! We are working on putting up Christmas decorations at our house . . .
This is a special kind of tree called an Ornament Tree which is meant to really put the focus on the ornaments. This will be our upstairs tree this year. We are going to put our regular Christmas tree downstairs.

Classroom Ear bud storage, Readers Theater Headband

Hi everyone! Happy Thursday! One week until Thanksgiving, WOW. Time does fly by. A while ago I shared an idea for crayon storage:

Well, as you know, "Necessity is the Mother of Invention." I recently had to re purpose my shoe organizer because I needed a way to neatly store the children's ear buds that they use  for  "Listen to Reading".
This is what I did:
Each child is assigned a "classroom number" that we use for a lot of things. I put their classroom number on the ear buds and on a pocket in the shoe organizer. This keeps them all in a nice tidy place that is safe and easily accessible.

I also have a freebie for you. I have a group of kids doing a little Thanksgiving Readers Theater next week to introduce Common Core RL 1.6. I made these cute badges that we are going to staple on a headband for each child in the play.

Just went crazy in Rachelle's TpT Store!

Hi everyone! How is your week going? The weather here is beautiful but is going to turn very cold in a few days! Brrrrrr. I am watching an old Jerry Lewis/Dean Martin movie on Netflix. So funny. :) I am also  shopping on Teachers Pay Teachers. I just went crazy in Rachelle's {What the Teacher Wants!} store and bought these . . .

In self defense, I think I should be able to blame part of it on her for having such cute and timely stuff!! Thanks Rachelle! Here is the link to her store if you want to peek for yourself.

I also have my eye on this from Lori Rosenberg's TpT Store . . .

Thanks ladies for all of your amazing work!
Hugs,

Classroom Decor Projects, Reading Response Freebie

Hey EveRyBody!  How are you today? It has been a day of vacuuming, mopping and cleaning bathrooms at our house! One of things that just has to be done! I always feel so much better when everything is clean all at once. . .I also had time to take a small nap, which is getting to be a very bad habit for me this summer! This is one of the benefits, if you will of being parents of grown children . . .

I mentioned the other day that my husband was working on a couple of projects for me. Well, one of them was a spray paint project for my classroom. Here are the before and after photos

Meanwhile, I have been working on some things for my classroom also . .

I purchased the Polka Dot and Daisy set from

I personalized the table labels using my Cricut

and the Cuttin' Up Cartridge (did you know that Ebay is a great resource for Cricut Cartridges!)

The big purple daisy is from

I have also been working on some reading response forms to go with the Common Core.
