Photo Problems, Valentine Freebie

Greetings Everyone! I'm sorry that some of the pictures are not displaying properly. I just realized it was a problem and am working on it. From what I can gather it has something to do with my Google+/Picasa. I will try to fix the missing photos in the next week. Just for fun, I am including a free Valentine printable and a link to my latest TpT listing. It is a set of Doodle Border Stationery for Writer's Workshop.

Have a great evening.

Wedding, Retirement, Chalk Paint and TpT listing! {finally}

Greeting everyone! Gosh. I've had some big changes in the last six months! My baby got married,

I retired from teaching, and I started lots of fun projects from home! My husband and I look for awesome junk stuff, and then decide how to make it better. Sometimes we actually leave it as is, sometimes we chalk paint it, and sometimes we turn it into something else! Here are a few pictures of some things we have done:

If you would like to see more please come visit me at

I will also be continuing to list some things in my TpT Store, which I will eventually start blogging about on The Robin's Nest Designs, instead of this blog so that I can have everything in one place.

Here is my current listing:

I hope you are having a wonderful summer!

Numbers, Penguins and Melonheadz Addict Club!

I mentioned the other day that I would share a completed "Teens" number sense activity that we did. Here is a picture of the first one:

I also wanted to mention how cute Jennifer's Penguin packet is from First Grade Blue Skies. I love it! We did the penguin glyph last week. Here is a picture:

Cute right?!

Did you know that Nikki from Melonheadz has an addict club now? Yup, I joined! Look!
It includes a monthly coupon, a special members only blog, special graphics and other cool stuff!

"Teens"

Something I made yesterday for the kids that still have a hard time with the "teens" . . .there is a page for numbers 11-19. They will cut out the squares on the dotted lines and glue to a piece of construction paper in the appropriate spot. I will have to post a picture of an example tomorrow!

We ARE really here! I know it's hard to believe. . .also late New Year's FREEBIE!

Gosh, we really seem  to be taking an extending break on posting to the blog! I have been spending time just enjoying my home and family for a while. We had a great vacation to Disneyland over the Winter break. The weather was fantastic. about 75 degrees every day that we were there! That is quite a treat when you live in the cold and snow during this time of year! We are now gearing up for the New YEAR both at home and at school. For some reason, the beginning of January always makes me feel like organizing and cleaning things! do you feel this way also? Chari has started an office organization project that I am going to ask her to share . . .

We are also in the process of planning for a wedding. Our "baby" is getting married at the end of April. Wow! We are so fortunate that we love his intended like family already. :)

My first graders sure came back from break ready to learn! It is so amazing to see how mature and capable they are becoming. . .the end of the year will be here before we know it!

I am sure everyone is way more on top of things than I am and have already talking about setting goals and resolutions with your class-but just in case, here are a couple of freebies . .

Black Friday

Well Everyone,
Black Friday is upon us.  I rejoice for several reasons:
1. I haven't been out of this county since last Black Friday.
2. I get to spend 3 days with my BFF and her mom in a hotel!
3. I buy ALL, yes ALL of my Christmas gifts in one weekend and spend the rest of December relaxing and enjoying the holiday specials, concerts, etc.

Here is a photo of last year's trip. This is my friend's mom in the back seat of my SUV! I learned the hard way NOT to post pictures of gift buying on Facebook.  My friend's13 year old daughter is my friend on Facebook and she saw her gift in the photo.

Nouns, Verbs, Sentences and Wordpress!

Hi everyone! I wanted to share an activity that we did recently. We have been learning about complete sentences. This activity is about Nouns, Verbs and Adverbs. We worked on it as a class by reading words from each category and then deciding where it would make sense. The kids liked it a lot and have been enjoying referring to the poster.

I also wanted to mention that we have been doing some rearranging in blog world. My husband and I have decided to turn our Blogger Robin's Nest blog into a family blog so that we can keep extended family updated on kids, grand kids, travel and wedding plans. I have been working on a WORDPRESS.ORG blog for our crafts and projects blog. It has been interesting to work with a different platform, but I am liking it.

Current thoughts on Planbook.com

Hi friends! Another week has come and gone. Is it me or is the month flying by? I mentioned recently that I have been trying out digital planning with Planbook.com. So far I am liking it. Here is just one reason: This year due to a lot of scheduling changes we have had to make both school wide and as a grade level, I have had to redo my plan book 3, yes 3 times. I make mine in Publisher, print it and bind it. Well, this week brought yet another scheduling change we had to make in first grade. I simply logged into my online plan book and with 2 clicks changed the times around. Took about a minute. Yay! After what I have already been through with my plans this year that was nothing short of miraculous. :) I also like that I can type the instructions for a substitute once and it can carry over. I can also print the week out as a PDF for either myself or for a substitute. I also like that I can insert Standards if I desire to.

I can also make changes on my IPad which is super convenient when I don't feel like getting out of bed and getting my computer. LOL!

Here is a link to my plans for this week so far

Making Ten

My class was having trouble with sums of ten so I made this dice game to practice them.  It was fun and they had a great time.
