Rearranging my Classroom Pictures and Giveaway SOON.
Hi everyone! I recently blogged about coming down with the urge to rearrange my classroom. Well, yesterday was the day! I couldn't resist any longer. The students love it, in fact one told me "Thanks for doing this, it really looks good NoW." Gotta love first grade honestly. ;) Of course it's hard to notice anything when you hadn't seen it before but here are some pictures anyway! Have a good day . . .Also, we have an awesome giveaway coming up that will be announced soon. You will love it. :)

My templates for our version of Pete the Cat
| Here is the link for the pattern I made for our version of "Pete the Cat". I hope they scanned in clearly enough to make sense. I used scrapbook paper for the inside of the ears but pink would work just as well. The little card that he has glued to his arm is run off on white cardstock. The children chose what color to use for the shoes based on how they wanted to fill out the little card. Click HERE for patterns |
Living Things
To introduce Living Things, we talked about the differences between living things and non living things. Then I let each student pick a living thing to make out of construction paper scraps. They glued it to a paper and wrote what made it a living thing; such as needs air, needs water, etc. I glued them all to a big tree to display in the hall.

TeAcHeR SpRiNg FeVeR!
Do you ever get the teacher's version of SpRiNg FeVeR?? I know I do. This is when you have an overwhelming urge to start fixing your classroom for the next year. There is a feeling of wanting to throw things out, move the classroom furniture around, and gather new ideas for organization. I kind of want to say, "Thanks classroom, you have served me well this year, but your time is up and I'm ready to move on to next year's plan." Of course, this is untimely because there are still 20 something children who are quite content with the current arrangement! I usually start to gather ideas in my head and formulate my summer game plan. Sometimes, toward the end of the year, I even try out a new room arrangement to see well it works or if I even like it. Crazy, right?
Here are a few ideas for storage that I have just pinned that looked interesting to me . . .Click on each picture to follow the Pinterest link.

Do you ever have moments when you are really reminded that you are a teacher? This happened to me this week. I was gluing a bunch of stuff, which was proving to be tedious. Well, I can't believe I am admitting this but I sometimes play this game in my mind when I am doing a boring or long job. I challenge myself to work on it for just a certain amount of time, to see how much I can get finished at which point I switch to something else for a few minutes. (I know, completely crazy) It is kind of like I am tricking myself into getting the task finished . . . (I know you are laughing) Anyway, you can read above and see what I did!
LiNk Up and share your story. It can't be any weirder than mine. :)

This is the display that all of our first grade classes contributed to. We have it hanging in the hall for parent conference week. We used the patterns from Deanna Jump's Zoo Unit. It turned out darling and the first graders love seeing their work going the length of the hall.
These are the cute LePreChaUn Glyphs that we just made using Jennifer's, (First Grade Blue Skies) St. Patrick's Day Unit. . .they are DaRLiNg!!
This is something that I made this week to tie in to St. Patrick's Day. .

What is GOiNg on In tHe EagLes NeSt...
Hello all, We have just started to learn about life cycle in first grade. Hopefully you have downloaded all of Lory's cute animal fact organizers. Last year our librarian found a website where you can watch an eagle. Our last year classes loved watching the eagle eggs hatch and then watching the mother and father eagle feed them. It was so fascinating to watch all of this take place on the eagle cam. So for all of you out there that haven't been turned on to watching here is the link. Head on over and see what is going on in the eagle nest.

Another Thank You!! and Dozen/Half Dozen
I need to add another ThAnK YoU to Mrs. L from Life with Mrs. L for the lovely award! I appreciate it so much, :) The reason our list of blogs that we are passing this wonderful award isn't up yet is because I thought it would be fun to have Becca, Chari and Camille help choose who to pass it on to. Stay tuned . . .
