Hi everyone! Gosh, what a looonnnggg week. I have been stuck in bed with a bad head cold. Missed 2 days of school, 1 very needed hair appointment, 1 big faculty meeting and tomorrow missing our Grandson's 3 year old birthday! Still under the weather! Has anyone else had this lately? Tonight is the first time I even felt I could lay in bed and work on the computer!

Valentine's Day Thanks!

Happy Valentine's Day gang! I hope you are having a great day! I want to thank my husband for bringing me these beautiful flowers today. He is so thoughtful and sweet. He also surprised me with some treats from my favorite store, "Charming Charlie." I really appreciate that he is so supportive of all of the time I spend on behalf of first graders and also the time I spend on the computer! Love Ya, HoNeY!

Here is another Valentine Freebie!!!  I made these for my little boys preschool class.  I printed them and then Lory let me borrow her flower punch.  I punched them and then tied them with a cute ribbon to some bubbles I bought at Walmart.

Valentine's Art Projects.

Hi everyone! Wow, it is Wednesday already! Are you starting to get excited for Valentine's Day? We have made a few things for the classroom. I love the red and pink! Here are a few pictures . . .

The kids cut out hearts of varying sizes and glued them together.

The kids loved making stained glass hearts with wax paper, squares of tissue paper and watered down glue.

My School Find

This isn't really a recent find for me, but it is one of my favorite finds of all time. I don't know what we would do without this for hanging things on our brick walls at school. I buy it 2 or 3 packs at a time at Wal Mart.


My Home Find

I found this nail polish over the Christmas break. I love the fact that it is base coat, color and top coat all in one! I hate all of the individual steps.

Utah Symbols Booklet

I have been blessed with the opportunity to mentor a student teacher this semester which is giving me some time to really look at the Utah core and make sure that I am teaching what I should.

I am embarrassed to admit that I have missed the boat on explicitly teaching any Utah symbols. I always mentioned them when we talked about US symbols, but that isn't good enough. I quickly discovered there isn't a lot of ready made materials so specific for our state (I even begged info from our 4th grade teachers!). So, I spent a good part of my "free" time working on putting together something that I thought I would share.

I created a smart notebook file that looks at the symbols on the Utah state flag. Then to go along with that file I created a "coloring" book for the kids to create a book of their own state symbols.

I still have some tweaking to do on the smart notebook file, but I am willing to share it just send me an email and I will send it on. Here is a copy of the coloring book for you to use with your kids.
