Storybook/Informational Text Posters

Hi everyone! What have you been up to this weekend? Gosh, I had big plans in the house-we were going to general clean the dining room. You know, wash the walls, wipe down everything that hangs on the walls, blinds, windows, baseboard-the works. Guess what? Didn't do it! I have had no get up and go this weekend at all! While writing this I am on my bed watching old Alfred Hitchcock shows on TV. Oh well, the world won't end, right?

Of course, I am sure we are all excited about Halloween falling smack dab in the middle of the week. ;)

This week in class we are going to start keeping track of our read aloud's and whether they fall into the storybook or informational text category.

I also want to thank those of you that have popped over to my other blog to pick up the free Christmas printable featuring clip art from Melonheadz and enter the ETSY giveaway!

Have a good week!

Room on the Broom, ETSY giveaway and Christmas decor freebie.

Hi everyone! Wow, I can't believe it is Wednesday already! It has been a busy week already. I read the book I mentioned a few days ago to my class today."Room on the Broom" They loved it and so did I. :)
We did the prediction page from the packet I purchased from Leslie Ann on TpT. . .and by the time we finished writing our predictions about the witch, one of the children said, "I can't wait to hear the story!"
So fun!

Tomorrow we are going to do the adjectives activity that I posted a few days ago.

I wanted to tell you that I am having a $25 ETSY gift certificate giveaway on my other blog.
Come on over and enter! Click on the graphic below. There is also an awesome banner freebie over there that I made with Nikki's 12 Days of Christmas clip art set that you can download and print!

This is a fun phonics activity I made for Discover Intensive Phonics phonetic skills 1, 2, and 3.  You can cut the word cards out and tape them around the room.  I'm going to glue mine on little die cut pumpkins.  The students use the paper and a clipboard as they walk around to each word.  They write either a 1, 2, or 3 in each corresponding box to show which phonetic skill the word would be. You can grab the papers here.

My class has a hard time remembering which ways to do Read to Someone, and how many books they need. I made these word strips as a reminder.  The book pictures represent how many books they need for the activity.  You can get the word strips here.

I am so excited to dive into this book this week.
P.S. The super large sticky notes they are referring to in the book are also available on Amazon also!!!

I found something new to organize my office stuff. I used to use a cardboard "bankers box" for each month that we are in school. I would store content specific books, files and projects in each one for that particular month. These were at Walmart last night: I am going to try it out today or tomorrow and let you know how it works out . . .

They aren't a big as it appears in the picture.
Measurements are 29 X 18 X 13

I have a brand new design over on my personal blog! I did it myself with photos I took around our house! Yay! You can come check it out here:

I will be putting a Halloween Word Art Freebie on that blog in the next day or two, so be sure to check back! I found some super cute new fonts!

This week in school, our class is continuing to learn about pumpkins. We are going to a pumpkin patch. I am sure you can imagine how excited the class is about that!
Do you go to a pumpkin patch at your school?

Pumpkin Syllables and an Awesome Halloween Craft Book

Greetings everyone. I hope your day is going well. Wow, tomorrow is already Friday! Today, we rearranged our classroom and wiped down all of the counters. It is always a good feeling to do that. Tomorrow, the kids are going to organize the inside of their desks. I think this is important, even in First grade. I have 2 things to share with you today. One is a "Pumpkin Syllables" freebie and the other is a cool craft book, that has nothing to do with anything, but I love it anyway!

Here is the freebie . . .
